Ashtanga Yoga is an incredible tool that seeks to balance our strength through flexibility, and brings about a sense of well being on an emotional and mental level. A steady and regulated practice over a long period of time is the catalyst to these changes. We must be patient and listen to our body and progress at our own pace. By focusing on the breath and moving with awareness, our yoga body/mind grows like a tree, and requires steadfast care and watering through the avenue of conscious and diligent practice. It is best to learn these under the guidance of a teacher.
Beginner-Level Classes: This is a less intense class focusing on the basic movements, breath, and flexibility. It also serves as a great start for those new to yoga.
The philosophical premise of Yoga is introduced. You learn foundational poses, the fundamentals of breath support and basic movements. Physical conditioning, descriptive language, and spatial orientation are emphasized in this class. The approach of this class is slow and measured. In order to allow you time to become familiar with Yoga, this class is specifically designed for those who are new to Yoga.
All-Level Classes: This is a mixed-level intermediate/advanced class with fun group learning dynamics.
The philosophical premise of Yoga will be explored. You will build a basic understanding of yoga, work at your appropriate level, and begin exploring how to constructively challenge your practice. We take a variety of approaches, ranging from passive to vigorous.
